You Can Control Your Time

Time is within your control.
You’re probably asking, “How can you control time in a 24/7 environment?”
Winners carry this secret with them all the time. They know that each man is given exactly 24 hours a day and it’s how time is spent or wasted that spells the difference between success, mediocrity or failure.

You can control your time. You choose how to "spend" your time and how much of your time to give to various activities. You'll never get more time than the 24 hours you’re given each day. But nobody can ever shortchange it but you.
Doesn’t it amaze you that the people who make the worst use of time may be the same ones who complain that there is never enough time.
Sociologists say that the most important currency for the 21st century is time not money.
Therefore you make sure that you spend your time wisely.
This doesn’t mean you bury yourself in work and fail to maintain some semblance of sanity in our life, this simply means you spend time on things that will help you grow as a person and you stay away from activities that would hinder you from your success goals.
  • When you spend more time watching pirated DVD movies than reading books you’re wasting your time.
  • When you would rather be out with the boys (or the girls) than spend time with your family you are wasting time.
  • When you gulp it down, shoot it up or snort it in you’re not only wasting your time you’re wasting your life.
Now may I make a suggestion?
Rather than thinking time management all the time, why not start thinking “Task Management?”
Prioritize tasks that add value towards achieving your lifetime success goals. Anything that does not accomplish this you discard and throw it into your wastebasket.
Leon Hansen composed this poem entitled “Take Some Time.”
Read the words carefully:
Take Some Time
by Leon Hansen
Take some time to smell the flowers.  As you walk the paths of life.
Take some time to ease the tensions.  From the challenges and the strife.
Take some time to hear the birds sing.  As they usher in the dawn.
Though the day be just emerging.  Too soon it will be gone.
Take some time to watch a sunrise.  Now and then a sunset too.
Just be sure that seeking pleasure.  Isn't all you ever do.
Take some time to count your blessings.  Though you feel they're not that great.
You will find they're more abundant.  Than you thought, at any rate.
Take some time to banish hatred.  When and where you can.
Just detest man's evil ways.  And not your fellow man.
Take some time to love your children.  Every moment you are free.
The benefits sure exceed.  A university degree.
Take some time to love your neighbor.  And even more important still,
Take some time to love yourself.  Or not many others will.
And if you don't like that image.  Of yourself that others see,
Take some time to make some changes,. Be the best that you can be.
Take some time to help another.  Who you think might need a hand.
You will find the satisfaction.  Leaves you feeling sort of grand.
Take some time to live by virtue.  In the best way that is known,
And respect the rights of others.  As equal to your own.
Take some time to just appreciate.  The fact that you are here,
And to know the risen Lord.  And to trust Him without fear.
If you do these things with diligence. You will eventually be glad.
If you don't attempt to do them. You may one day wish you had.
Although this no doubt could impose. Upon your time for seeking wealth,
There should be little question. That it could improve your health.
And though you might not be as wealthy. Nor drive so fine a car,
You'll find you will be richer. In other ways by far. [1]
Our time is in God’s Hands but He has empowered us to use it responsibly.

Napoleon Hill (1883-1970) Founder of The Science Of Success

Napoleon Hill

(1883-1970)

Founder of The Science Of Success

"Whatever your mind can conceive and believe it can achieve." - Napoleon Hill
American born Napoleon Hill is considered to have influenced more people into success than any other person in history. He has been perhaps the most influential man in the area of personal success technique development, primarily through his classic book Think and Grow Rich which has helped million of the people and has been important in the life of many successful people such as W. Clement Stone and Og Mandino.
Napoleon Hill was born into poverty in 1883 in a one-room cabin on the Pound River in Wise County, Virginia. At the age of 10 his mother died, and two years later his father remarried. He became a very rebellious boy, but grew up to be an incredible man. He began his writing career at age 13 as a "mountain reporter" for small town newspapers and went on to become America's most beloved motivational author. Fighting against all class of great disadvantages and pressures, he dedicated more than 25 years of his life to define the reasons by which so many people fail to achieve true financial success and happiness in their life.
During this time he achieved great success as an attorney and journalist. His early career as a reporter helped finance his way through law school. He was given an assignment to write a series of success stories of famous men, and his big break came when he was asked to interview steel-magnate Andrew Carnegie. Mr. Carnegie commissioned Hill to interview over 500 millionaires to find a success formula that could be used by the average person. These included Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Ford, Elmer Gates, Charles M. Schwab, Theodore Roosevelt, William Wrigley Jr, John Wanamaker, WIlliam Jennings Bryan, George Eastman, Woodrow Wilson, William H. Taft, John D. Rockefeller, F. W. Woolworth, Jennings Randolph, among others.
He became an advisor to Andrew Carnegie, and with Carnegie's help he formulated a philosophy of success, drawing on the thoughts and experience of a multitude of rags-to-riches tycoons. It took Hill over 20 years to produce his book, a classic in the Personal Development field called Think and Grow Rich. This book has sold over 7 million copies and has helped thousands achieve success. The secret to success is very simple but you'll have to read the book to find out what it is!
Napoleon Hill passed away in November 1970 after a long and successful career writing, teaching, and lecturing about the principles of success. His work stands as a monument to individual achievement and is the cornerstone of modern motivation. His book, Think and Grow Rich, is the all time best-seller in the field.
In recent years The Napoleon Hill Foundation has published his bestselling writings worldwide, giving him immense influence around the globe.

Here are some interesting observations by one of the greatest gurus on achieving success, Napoleon Hill:
"Before us lie two paths -- honesty and dishonesty. The shortsighted embark on the dishonest path; the wise on the honest. For the wise know the truth; in helping others we help ourselves; and in hurting others we hurt ourselves. Character overshadows money, and trust rises above fame. Honesty is still the best policy.
"Understand this law and you will then know, beyond room for the slightest doubt, that you are constantly punishing yourself for every wrong you commit and rewarding yourself for every act of constructive conduct in which you indulge."
"Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul, the blueprints of your ultimate achievements."
"Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit."
"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed on an equal or greater benefit."
"Hold a picture of yourself long and steadily enough in your mind's eye, and you will be drawn toward it."
"If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self."
"One must marry one's feelings to one's beliefs and ideas. That is probably the only way to achieve a measure of harmony in one's life."
"The ladder of success is never crowded at the top."
"The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail."
"Until you have learned to be tolerant with those who do not always agree with you; until you have cultivated the habit of saying some kind word of those whom you do not admire; until you have formed the habit of looking for the good instead of the bad there is in others, you will be neither successful nor happy."
"War grows out of the desire of the individual to gain advantage at the expense of his fellow man."
"When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal."
"You must get involved to have an impact. No one is impressed with the won-lost record of the referee."
"I have proved, times too numerous to enumerate, to my own satisfaction at least, that every human brain is both a broadcasting and a receiving station for vibrations of thought frequency.
"If this theory should turn out to be a fact, and methods of reasonable control should be established, imagine the part it would play in the gathering, classifying and organising of knowledge. The possibility, much less the probability, of such a reality, staggers the mind of man!"
"The sixth sense is that portion of the subconscious mind which has been referred to as the creative imagination. It has also been referred to as the 'receiving set' through which ideas, plans and thoughts flash into the mind. The flashes are sometimes called hunches or inspirations.
"The sixth sense defies description! It cannot be described to a person who has not mastered the other principles of this philosophy, because such a person has no knowledge and no experience with which the sixth sense may be compared. Understanding the sixth sense comes only by meditation through mind development from within.
"After you have mastered the principles described in this book, you will be prepared to accept as truth a statement which may, otherwise, be incredible to you, namely:
"Through the aid of the sixth sense, you will be warned of impending dangers in time to avoid them and notified of opportunities in time to embrace them.
"There comes to your aid and to do your bidding, with the development of the sixth sense, a 'guardian angel' who will open to you at all times the door to the temple of wisdom."
-- Napoleon Hil

Leaders Like Bus Drivers

I have to take EDSA every day of my life. Crowded most of the time as vehicles travel at the lightning speed of 30 kilometers per hour perhaps many times slower. And when traffic is light, I watch out for those dangerous, reckless and negligent bus drivers who race each other to get to their stops.
Now this got me thinking.

Bus drivers have a vision. They set their goals and have it within their sights. They seem to run over anyone and anything just to reach their goal and in the process could even destroy lives in the process.
Do you know that many leaders in business organizations lead like bus drivers? They have their set goals. In fact they are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. All the works that make consultants like me proud. But here is the problem. They run over everyone, including their own employees, crash through their closest and most loyal people in order to achieve their goals. Their slogan in life is: “The end justifies the mean-ness!” Some do this consciously. These are Machiavellian monsters adorned with the charm and grace of a serial killer doing their thing while others are even clueless that they are doing it. Are they successful? Perhaps but their success is not sustainable. What it takes is an inspiring leader who knows he cannot succeed alone. A humble servant-leader whose mission in job is not just to achieve goals but to make his people become better through the process.
No one creates success alone. To win in business, you must win with people. Running over people will only get you so far. To create true and lasting success you must nurture and invest in your people. Here are three essential ways to do this.
1. CONNECT WITH YOUR PEOPLE
Great leaders know they deal with people and people have feelings. Machines do not. The more you are connected with your people the more you learn about them and the more you know them. In my two-day leadership workshop seminar I offer an assessment tool. And 90% of the time the participants are stunned to realize that they have been working with the same people for years yet they do not know them that well.
2. CARE FOR YOUR PEOPLE
People hate the feeling of being used. Work in itself is extremely challenging but bearable if you and I are working for a leader we trust simply because we know he or she cares. Work becomes unbearable the moment we know that our leaders behave like jerks using us to accomplish his or her goals only to dispose us like a used piece of tissue. Motivational speaker Zig Ziglar said it all too well: People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. People are more engaged at work and will work at their highest potential when their leader cares about them.
3. CARRY YOUR PEOPLE THORUGH
Great leaders guide their people, work with their people and bear the burdens with them. When things go wrong great leaders carry the blame, owns the problem and accept responsibility. This carries tremendous impact on the people as they are inspired to carry their leaders through as well. Leaders who grab the credit from their people’s labor and blame their own people for mess up jobs are jerks and they are the main reason why good people leave organizations.
4. CREDIT YOUR PEOPLE WITH RECOGNITION
Very high on the list of reasons why good people leave is the fact that people feel they are not appreciated. Many leaders do not realize that something as simple as a personally written “thank you” note creates a strong and lasting impact on the recipient’s life.
Leadership is not just about what you do. It’s all about inspiring your people to be at their best, bringing out their best and giving their best and everyone in the organization benefits from it.
Leadership is not just about rules. Author Andy Stanley said, “Rules without relationship lead to rebellion.” Rebellion does not necessary mean picket lines and work stoppage; disengagement from their work actually costs more.
Don’t drive your people like those jerks who drive their buses recklessly along EDSA and many of our highways. Inspire them, engage them and invite them on the bus with you and allow everyone to experience an amazing ride.
You know very well... “Do unto others... as if you were the others.”

With Eyes But Cannot See

Here is a nice story I got from the Net. It’s credited to anonymity but nevertheless, very important for me to share so read the words closely.
There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, "If I could only see the world, I will marry you."

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.
He asked her, "Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?"
The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.
Her boyfriend left in tears, and days later wrote a note to her saying: "Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine."
The sacrifice has been made but the gratitude was never there.
This is how the human brain often works when our status changes. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations.
I have gone through this and so have you. How easy it is for people to forget. The sacrifices, the friendship, the love, the moments of help you have extended yet today, not only were they forgotten, the very people you have helped and loved have turned against you, hate you and even do their best to destroy you. Such is the state of the sinful heart. This is why Scriptures warn us against our own hearts. That the heart is hopelessly wicked and is bent towards plotting evil.
Just think about this. God has always been good yet people refuse to accept Him and continue to live a life that defies His Will and His Ways. All of us are ungrateful people and only by the Grace and Mercies of God are we delivered from ourselves. The moment one turns to Christ, God replaces the stony heart with a tender one and puts the indwelling Spirit and sets up residence in the life of the person. And this is the only way why and how people can truly change into a brand new life.
Do not be ungrateful.
Today, before you say an unkind word,
Think of someone who can't speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food,
Think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife,
Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion.
Today, before you complain about life,
Think of someone who died too early on this earth.
Before you complain about your children,
Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.
Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep,
Think of the people who are living in the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive,
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job,
Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another,
Remember that not one of us is without sin.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down,
Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around. And you can still put yourself in the loving mercies of the Savior.
Today may just be your day.

Find Your Unique Why

A newsboy was standing on the corner with a stack of papers, yelling, "Read all about it. Fifty people swindled! Fifty people swindled!"
Curious, a man walked over, bought a paper, and checked the front page. What he saw was yesterday's paper.
The man said, "Hey, this is an old paper, where's the story about the big swindle?"

The newsboy ignored him and went on calling out, "Read all about it. Fifty-one people swindled!"
Looks like the boy in our story’s got potential. Potential to be a crook that’s what.
There is no short cut to success and you cannot cheat your way to being successful long term.
Some people are looking for the “One Big Thing.” Make a lot of money then retire. These people are not achievers. They’re simply lazy.
Denis Waitley says: For the high achiever, it's natural to seek out challenging goals because he or she has an inner, intrinsic drive to succeed. And success doesn't mean pet rocks, get-rich-quick schemes, lotto jackpots or chain letters. High achievers are looking not to receive, but to contribute, to give. They're looking for problems that are personally satisfying to solve. Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and Warren Buffett, three of the wealthiest individuals in the world, eagerly go to work every day to face the challenge of solving a new and bigger problem. All could be playing Backgammon on a tropical island or two rounds of golf per day.
Since the accomplishment of a difficult task means more to the high achiever than any external motivation, it means that motivation will remain strong throughout his or her career. Think of how much stronger and more permanent such a motivation is compared to one that is extrinsic.
Suppose you choose a particular career because of the money. What happens when there's more money in doing something else? You're likely to abandon one path as soon as another possibility opens up, and eventually you'll find yourself wondering what you're really doing… maybe even who you really are.
Since there is no inner drive to stay on any particular path, the journey will be arduous, and motivation will tend to weaken whenever the external reward seems remote or out of sight. This is especially true with individuals who want a home business with high rewards and minimal risk.
Some people spend their entire lives wandering from one field to another, always looking for an easier way to find that pot of gold, never achieving a significant goal worthy of their inner potential.
I've met many people who fit this description. If they're in sales, they move from company to company, from industry to industry, for one product or service to another. They are very hard to keep on your hand held electronic address book or in your directory of contacts because they are always either coming or going or starting another new business of their own.
When that doesn't work, they get involved in sketchy enterprises, especially start-up-companies offering big, easy rewards, such as a wonder diet company where you can lose all the weight you want by eating anything you want and swallowing one amazing pill a day. They go from one Roman candle to another, from one "exciting opportunity" to another disappointment.
The problem is, money alone does not stimulate intrinsic motivation and therefore is a means, not an end. Money is like fuel for your car. It is not the destination. It is not the journey. It is only part of the transportation system. Make your "why" grab you by your very soul. You'll never be disappointed for very long. And you'll stay committed regardless of "stock market gyrations" or setbacks.
This week, find your unique "why" and pursue it with passion!
Discovering your unique why should be the purpose of your life. Letting your unique why serve others is what brings meaning to your life.
Billy Graham says “There is nothing wrong with men possessing riches. The wrong comes when riches possess men.” Guess what the Bible has to say: “People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.”
So don’t fall into the trap.
